What is the perfect sleeping temperature?
Even during the cold season, we tend to bundle up as much as possible, but there is a temperature range in which sleep improves. So, what is the perfect sleeping temperature?
What is the perfect sleeping temperature?
Although preferences may vary, the perfect sleeping temperature according to experts from the Sleep Foundation is 18°C (64°F).
This temperature allows our body to rest more peacefully as our body temperature changes during different sleep phases. During sleep, our hypothalamus reduces our body temperature to induce sleep, so excessive covering can disrupt our rest.
The ambient temperature is important because it avoids forcing our body to reduce or maintain a temperature of 36-37°C (97-98°F) and promotes greater relaxation.
Although we mention 18°C (64°F), the ideal range is between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius (59-72°F), depending on personal preferences and our body.
